Our Impact

Keeping Families Together Through Empowerment and Education

Education Scholarship Program A comprehensive scholarship and support system helping at-risk youth gain access to education and develop life skills. Our scholarship students: 6 Primary, 4 Secondary, 5 University.

Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) In partnership with Okoabadili Community Center, we provide a safe space for youth to play, compete and learn life skills. 50 youth from Dagoretti ranging in age from 2 to 20 years old.

Economic Empowerment (WEE) Program Helps adults embrace their self-worth and provides them with vital business skills training. Since 2012, over 2000 men and women have participated in our income generating workshops.

CapStart Program Assists women to start new businesses or improve upon those they currently operate through mentorship and capital support. 5 new businesses started in 2015. (Hair salon, Tailor shop, Food Kiosk, Wholesaler, Handcraft Cooperative)

R2T defines empowerment as increasing the spiritual, political, social, educational, gender, and economic strength of individuals and communities. The challenges facing the community are complex, subsequently; it will take time to see significant quantitative results. However, we expect to see an increase in personal empowerment which will lead to increased employment, business success and income, which will eventually improve living situations for children, their families and the community at large.

We believe success also lies in the individual stories of our participants. We have experienced grandmothers learning to spell their name in English for the first time in their life, parents able to finally help their children do school work, women building confidence to seek and gain employment, and entrepreneurs equipped with tools to start their own businesses.

Please visit our Testimonials page to hear from our students and teachers themselves, the impact our programs have had on their lives and the community.
